FASCINATING MYANMAR

YANGON –MANDALAY – MONYWA – POWINTAUNG - BAGAN – YANGON (8DAY/7-NIGHT)

Day01- Yangon

Arrival at Yangon International Airport by morning flight, welcome by our guide and transfer to your hotel. In the afternoon visit Chaukhtatkyi Pagoda, a huge reclining Buddha; Karaweik Hall, a Royal floating barge on the Royal Lake for a photo stop and the Shwedagon Pagoda.

Overnight in Yangon.

   
Day02- YANGON – MANDALAY

Morning transfer to airport for flight to Mandalay. Upon arrival, drive to Amarapura and visit Mahagandayon Monastery, a famous Buddhist learning center with a thousand monks, who take their final meal of the day in total silence. Proceed to visit the ancient art of silk and cotton weaving, using handlooms and U Bein Bridge, over 150 years old. In the afternoon visit the Mahamuni Pagoda; Shwenandaw monastery, noted for its exquisite wood carvings; Atumashi monastery; Kuthodaw Pagoda, known as the world's Biggest Book for its stone slabs of Buddhist scriptures and Mandalay Hill for enjoying the sunset.

Day03- MANDALAY - SAGAING – MONYWA

After breakfast drive to Sagaing Hill, a retreat for Buddhist devotees with numerous pagodas and monasteries; visit Kaunghmudaw Pagoda and proceed to Monywa, noted for its pagodas, religious institutions and places in its outlying area. Continue to visit the magnificent Thanbokde Pagoda, adorned with 502,357 Buddha images big and small; and Kyaukka Village, another centre for typical Myanmar lacquerware industry with unique workmanship.

Day04- MONYWA – POWINTAUNG - PAKOKKU – BAGAN

After breakfast, take the ferry to the other side of the Chindwin River and where you board a car to see the seldom visited Phowintaung temple complex where many sandstone Buddha’s were carved in the hillsides in caves. Then continue to Pakokku by car and take a private boat and cross the mighty Ayeyarwaddy River to Bagan.

Day05- BAGAN

After breakfast, transfer to airport for flight to Bagan. Sightseeing tour of Bagan highlights Nyaung Oo Market; Shwezigon Pagoda, the prototype of later Myanmar stupas; Kyansittha Umin, a tunnel with an interesting feature of paintings; Htilominlo Temple and Shwegugyi Temple transitional in style between the Early and Late Bagan period. Lunch at a restaurant. Afternoon visit Ananda Temple; Ananda Okkyaung, a brick monastery with mural painting; Lacquerware factories; Manuha Temple; Nanpaya, an Early style temple with the finest stone carvings; Thatbyinnyu, the highest of Bagan temples; and Bupaya Pagoda on the brink of majestic Ayeyarwaddy River.

Day06- BAGAN - POPA – BAGAN

Early morning drive to Mt. Popa (appr. 6 hrs drive). Visit the great extinct volcano. Rising out of the shimmering heat, the solitary volcanic crag of Mt. Popa is home to Myanmar's most powerful "nats". Visit the Nat Museum with its life-sized statues of the 37 Nat Gods. Walk up the steps to the stupas and shrines that top the hill above the museum, see many pilgrims along the way. Late afternoon continue to Bagan. Thousands of decaying pagodas rises majestically from the plain to create a timeless scene, saluting a glorious past.

Day07- BAGAN – YANGON

Breakfast at hotel, transfer to Airport for flight to Yangon. Afternoon, visit Sule Pagoda , dating back over 2000 years, the Mahabandoola Park with it's Independence Monument and walk around the downtown area and visit Bogyoke Market.

Day8- YANGON

Free at your own leisure till transfer to Yangon International Airport for your departure flight.
