FASCINATING MYANMAR

YANGON – PUTAO – MYITKYINA-MANDALAY – BAGAN – HEH0 – PINDAYA TREKKING - THANDWE - SITTWE – MRAUK U – YANGON (21DAY/20-NIGHT)

Day01- Yangon

Upon arrival at Yangon International Airport, welcome by our local guide and transfer to your Hotel. In the afternoon visit Chaukhtatkyi Pagoda, a huge reclining Buddha; Karaweik Hall, a Royal floating barge on the Royal Lake for a photo stop and the Shwedagon Pagoda, world famous stupa.

Overnight in Yangon.

   
Day02- DAY 02 YANGON – PUTAO

Early morning transfer to airport for flight to Putao. Upon arrival, transfer to local guesthouse. In the evening, doing sightseeing nearby Putao and overnight at guest house.

   
DAY 03 PUTAO – MYITKYINA

After breakfast, excursion to Machanbaw to see the natural market and scenic beauty from the high bank of Malikha River and proceed to Mularshide to see the ways of life of Lisu tribes and beautiful suspension bridge of Mularshidi. In the afternoon, flight to Myitkyina.

Overnight in Myitkyina.

   
DAY 04 MYITKYINA

After breakfast, visit Myitkyina market and drive to Myit Sone, where the junction of the Maikha and Malikha streams down from Mt. Hkakabo Razi and form to Ayeyarwaddy River. On the way back to Myitkyina visit Jaw Bon Tower and Karein Naw.

Overnight in Myitkyina.

   
DAY 05 MYITKYINA – BHAMO

After breakfast leave Myitkyina for Bhamo, 186 km south of Myitkina. Late afternoon watch the daily activities at the mighty Ayeyarwaddy River.

DAY06 BHAMO – MANDALAY [BY IWT BOAT]

Early in the morning we will try to reach the village of Sinbo set below the 1st Defile by local boat. Back to the ship before lunch and cast off (ETD 11.30 hrs) for the downriver return journey to Mandalay. We pass Kyun Daw, an island with lot of monasteries and small pagodas and we moor overnight at Shwegu pottery village.

   
DAY 07 SHWEGU – KHAN NYAT

Sail downriver all day stopping at Khan Nyat Village with its many Buddhist monasteries.

   
DAY 08 KHAN NYAT – MINGUN

Cruise all day. We arrive at Mingun in the late afternoon (ETA 16.00). Visit the unfinished pagoda, the largest working bell in the world and the “home for the ages”. Moor overnight in a sandbank opposite of Mingun Pagoda. Dance and Theatre performance on the Sundeck.

   
DAY 09 MINGUN – MANDALAY

Disembark at Mandalay Gawein Jetty at 08.00 o’clock. Transfer to hotel and after taking a rest, proceed Mandalay city sightseeing featuring traditional silk weaving industry; Shwenandaw Monastery, noted for its exquisite wood carvings; Atumashi Monastery; Kyauktawgyi Pagoda, a large Buddha image carved out of a single block of marble; Eindawya, a finely proportionate pagoda; Shweinbin Monastery, an excellent specimen of Myanmar wooden architecture; famous Mahamuni Pagoda; and traditional handicraft workshops - ivory carving, gold-leaf making and embroidery work. Overnight in Mandalay.

   
DAY 10 MANDALAY

Morning drive to Amarapura and visit Mahagandayon Monastery, a famous Buddhist learning center with a thousand monks, who take their final meal of the day in total silence. Proceed to visit the ancient art of silk and cotton weaving, using handlooms and U Bein Bridge, over 150 years old. In the afternoon visit the Mahamuni Pagoda; Shwenandaw monastery, noted for its exquisite wood carvings; Atumashi monastery; Kuthodaw Pagoda, known as the world’s Biggest Book and Mandalay Hill for enjoying the sunset. Overnight in Mandalay.

Cruise all day. We arrive at Mingun in the late afternoon (ETA 16.00). Visit the unfinished pagoda, the largest working bell in the world and the “home for the ages”. Moor overnight in a sandbank opposite of Mingun Pagoda.

DAY 11 MANDALAY – BAGAN

Morning transfer to Mandalay International Airport for flight to Bagan. Sightseeing of Bagan includes Shwezigon Pagoda, the prototype of later Myanmar stupas; Kyansittha Umin, a tunnel with an interesting feature of paintings; Htilominlo Temple and Shwegugyi Temple transitional in style between the Early and Late Bagan period. In the late afternoon visit Ananda Temple; Ananda Okkyaung, a brick monastery with mural painting; Lacquer ware factories; Manuha Temple; Nanpaya, an Early style temple with the finest stone carvings; Thatbyinnyu, the highest of Bagan temples; and Bupaya Pagoda on the brink of majestic Ayeyarwaddy River. Overnight in Bagan.

   
DAY 12 BAGAN – POPA – SALE – BAGAN

Morning excursion to the enchanting Mount Popa, a great extinct volcano situated about 67 km southeast of Bagan via Kyaukpadaung. Mount Popa, standing out as a green-clad landmark in the Dry Zone, is a place of special importance in Myanmar culture, history and legends. Tour highlights: toddy palm groves and jaggery cottage industry; Kyaukpadaung Market; Popa Village; and the famous Popa Taungkalat, a tower-like volcanic plug lying on the south-western slope of Mount Popa. In the afternoon drive to Sale. Visit the Payathonezu, with its mural paintings; Nanpaya, the largest lacquer Buddha image in Myanmar; and the Yoke Sone Kyaung, the oldest wooden monastery in Bagan area. In the afternoon drive back to Bagan. Overnight in Bagan.

   
DAY 13 BAGAN – HEHO – PINDAYA

Morning flight to Heho in Shan State. Upon arrival, drive to the small quiet town Pindaya to visit Pindaya Lake and Pindaya Caves, well known for its countless Buddha images. Enjoy also the scenic beauty of the country side along the road to Pindaya. Overnight in Pindaya.

   
DAY 14 PINDAYA TREKKING [DAY RETURN]

Start from Pindaya about 8:00 Am. 1 hr walk up to Htut Ni (danu Village), tea plantation and cheroof leaf plantation. Then proceed to See Kya Inn about 1 hrs trek. Break and having lunch at Danu House. Study Danu culture and their ways of life. A few minutes rest and then back to Pindaya with the same way. Overnight in Pindaya.

   
DAY 15 PINADAY - INLE LAKE

After breakfast drive to Nyaung Shwe and take a boat for the excursion on Inle Lake famous for its unique one-leg rowers, typical floating gardens, and local methods of fishing and village life. Continue visit to Phaung Daw Oo Pagoda housing five sacred Buddha images. In the afternoon, proceed to the silk weaving village of In Phaw Khon and visit Nga Phe Chaung, the biggest and oldest monastery around Inle Lake. Overnight in Lake Inle.

   
DAY 16 INLE - HEHO - THANDWE - NGAPALI BEACH

After breakfast transfers to the airport for the flight to Thandwe. Upon arrival transfer to your hotel for check-in. Relax at Ngapali Beach. Overnight in Ngapali.

   
DAY 17 NGAPALI BEACH

Relax at Ngapali Beach. Overnight in Ngapali.

   
DAY 18 NGAPALI - THANDWE – SITTWE

Free at leisure until transfer to the airport for the flight to Sittwe. Sittwe city sightseeing and overnight in Sittwe

   
DAY 19 SITTWE – MRAUK U

Morning transfer to the jetty for the local fishermen boat to Mrauk U, an archaeological zone. Tour highlights: Shittaung pagoda; Andawthein temple; Dukenthein temple; Laymyatnhar pagoda; Laungbwonbrauk pagoda; Annawmar Image and Pitakettiek library. Afternoon visit Palace site; Koethaung temple; Ratana Man Aung pagoda; Bandoola Monastery, Letsaykan and Zina Man Aung pagoda etc. Sunset from Shwedaung hill. Overnight in Mrauk U.

   
DAY 20 MRAUK U – SITTWE – YANGON

Breakfast at hotel and visit attractive Mrauk U bazaar and depart for Sittwe. On the way stop over at some Khami villages to observe their daily life. Upon arrival transfer to airport for flight back to Yangon. Upon arrive at Yangon, transfer to hotel for overnight.

   
DAY 21 YANGON

Free at leisure till transfer to Yangon International Airport for your departure flight.
